Introduction To The Course
What Does Our PASMA Training Cover?
Our PASMA training provides the essential knowledge and practical skills required to work safely with mobile access towers and is designed for Newport-based contractors, maintenance operatives, and facilities teams responsible for the use of tower scaffolds on site.
The course focuses on current best practice for working at height and covers the correct use of Through The Trap (3T) and Advanced Guardrail (AGR) methods. These systems are critical for maintaining fall protection during tower assembly, alteration, and dismantling.
PASMA training is widely recognised as the industry standard for safe tower scaffold operation and supports compliance with health and safety legislation across construction, maintenance, and commercial environments.

Before attending the course, delegates must download the PASMA TowerSure app, which is used during training and provides access to the digital PASMA PhotoCard upon successful completion.
Full joining instructions and a download link will be sent in the booking confirmation. Delegates should ensure the app is installed before attending to avoid delays on the day.
Delegates must also have a basic understanding of written and spoken English and be physically capable of working safely at height.
The PASMA Towers for Users course is delivered over one full day and combines classroom learning with practical instruction. The syllabus typically includes:
- Legislation, regulations, and guidance for working at height
- PASMA Code of Practice
- Product standards EN 1004
- Safe assembly, alteration, and dismantling of mobile access towers
- Correct use of 3T and Advanced Guardrail methods
- Inspection of completed tower scaffolds
- Completion of tower inspection records
- Identification of hazards and risk control measures
The assessment includes both theoretical and practical elements to ensure delegates can confidently apply safe working practices. A minimum pass mark of 80% is required to successfully complete the course.
On successful completion, delegates are issued a PASMA Towers for Users PhotoCard, valid for five years.
PASMA training for Newport delegates runs regularly at our purpose-built indoor training centre in Blackwood, typically under 30 minutes from Newport via the A467 and A4042. The centre provides a controlled indoor environment suitable for both theory sessions and practical tower scaffold training.
Many Newport-based contractors and facilities teams choose to train here due to the professional setup, ease of access, and consistent training conditions.
For employers and larger teams, we can also deliver PASMA training on-site at suitable Newport premises, subject to equipment availability and site conditions. Please contact our team to discuss your requirements.
PASMA qualifications are valid for five years. To maintain certification, operators must complete a PASMA refresher course before their PhotoCard expires to confirm continued competence.
This PASMA course is approved for CITB Levy funding. As a CITB Approved Training Organisation, we can assist Newport employers and individuals with guidance on available grants and the claims process.
