Safe Use of Ladders & Stepladders Training

Candidates should have a basic level of written and spoken English. A basic understanding of health and safety regulations is helpful but not essential. No previous experience of working with ladders or stepladders is required to attend this course.

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

• Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry, associated hazards, and their responsibilities when working at height
• Understand and apply the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific ladder or stepladder being used
• Identify the major components of a ladder or stepladder and explain their functions
• Conduct pre-use and end-of-use safety checks in accordance with manufacturer and legislative requirements
• Select the appropriate type of ladder or stepladder for the task being undertaken
• Identify and maintain the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for ladder use
• Erect, dismantle, and relocate ladders and stepladders safely and efficiently
• Carry out end-of-work inspections and apply appropriate storage procedures

Delegates will be required to complete a written theory test and demonstrate practical competence in the inspection of ladders and stepladders prior to their use. Delegates who successfully complete both elements will be awarded an NPORS Safe Use of Ladders & Stepladders (N711) qualification.

Courses run regularly at our purpose-built indoor training centre in Blackwood, South Wales, ideally situated for delegates travelling from across the region. Tea, coffee, and a warm welcome are provided.

Our centre is within easy reach of Cardiff, Newport, Bridgend, Swansea, Merthyr Tydfil, Brecon, Hereford, and Bristol, making it a convenient choice for both individuals and teams.

The NPORS Safe Use of Ladders & Stepladders (N711) qualification is valid for 3 years. Delegates wishing to renew their qualification will need to re-attend the course prior to their expiry date.
