Introduction To The Course

What Does Our Harness Safety and Fall Arrest Training Cover?

The NPORS Harness and Fall Arrest Course is designed to provide workers with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to safely use safety harnesses in the workplace.

According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), falls from height remain one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities in the UK. In the 2022/23 reporting year, 40 workers died as a result of falls from height, accounting for 30% of all fatal workplace injuries. Many of these incidents involved inadequate or incorrect use of fall protection equipment, including harnesses.

Because harness use is commonly used when working at height, we deliver the NPORS Harness & Fall Arrest (N723) alongside Safe Working at Height (N404) as a combined one-day course.

This course focuses on the correct selection, inspection, fitting, and use of harnesses and fall arrest systems in line with current health and safety regulations. Whether working at height or in potentially hazardous environments, the course ensures participants are competent and confident in protecting themselves and others while complying with legal and manufacturer requirements.

Harness Safety & Fall Arrest: Our Most Commonly Asked Questions

While regulations do not name a specific course, employers must ensure workers using fall protection equipment are properly trained and competent.

Recognised training, such as NPORS, helps demonstrate compliance with health and safety duties.

We have combined NPORS Safe Working at Height (N404) and Harness Safety & Fall Arrest (N723) into a 1 day course, approx. 8 hours.

The NPORS Harness Safety & Fall Arrest course is suitable for anyone required to wear a safety harness or use fall protection equipment as part of their work.

This commonly includes construction workers, MEWP operators, scaffold users, roof workers, and maintenance personnel.

Harness Safety & Fall Arrest training covers common fall protection equipment such as full body harnesses, lanyards, connectors, anchor systems, and basic fall arrest components.
