Forklift Instructor Training

Individuals who wish to become an RTITB Lift Truck Instructor will need to:

• Have significant experience as a lift truck operator – a minimum of 6 months is advised
• Have good communication skills
• Have the confidence to present groups of candidates
• Meet the eligibility requirements for the chosen course (Initial, Re-registration or Conversion)

By the end of the course, successful candidates will be able to:

• Demonstrate their instructional ability to conduct practical lessons using appropriate practical instructional skills
• Demonstrate their instructional ability to conduct in-class lessons using appropriate classroom instructional skills
• Discuss their associated knowledge of health and safety, legislation, instructional skills, candidate selection and practical skills testing
• Prepare, schedule and deliver an appropriate operator training course, working independently under workplace environment conditions
• Prepare, set up and conduct a Basic Operating Skills Test
• Follow the administration and documentation procedures appropriate to running an operator training course, including developing a familiarity with RTITB procedures and the RTITB TrainingFriend app

Successful RTITB Lift Truck Instructors will need to pass the four elements of assessment:

• In-class Lesson Delivery Test (assessed during the course)
• Associated Knowledge Test (assessed during the course)
• Practical Instructional Ability Test (assessed on examination day)
• Professional Discussion (assessed on examination day)

Courses are run from our purpose-built training centre in Blackwood, South Wales.

RTITB Lift Truck Instructor qualifications are valid for 5 years.

You will be required to attend a re-registration course if you wish to renew or refresh your qualification.
