Introduction To The Course
What Does Our CITB Health & Safety in Construction Environment Cover?
Anyone who wishes to work on a construction site will be required to hold a CSCS card. This applies to labourers, site managers, quantity surveyors, and cleaners.
At Heads of The Valleys, we offer a fully managed service. This means that we will book and arrange all elements of training and apply for your CSCS card upon completion.
To achieve your CSCS Green Labourer card, you will need to:
- Complete our Level 1 Health & Safety in Construction Environment qualification
- Complete and pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Operatives touch-screen test
Course Technical Details
CITB Health & Safety in Construction Environment Licence Details
A good level of written and spoken English is required to attend.
No previous site experience or knowledge is required. Candidates of all experience levels are welcome to attend this course.
This is a 1 day classroom-based course and will cover:
- The principles of risk assessment for maintaining and improving health and safety at work
- The importance of safe manual handling in the workplace
- The importance of working safely at height in the workplace
- Risks to health within a construction environment
- The importance of working around plant and equipment safely
You will be required to pass a Multiple Choice test paper at the end of the training session.
Those who wish to apply for their CSCS card will be required to complete the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test.
This test is 45 minutes long, and consists of 50 multiple-choice questions. To pass, you will be required to answer 45 questions correctly.
We will book and arrange this for you to be completed on the same day as your Level 1 Health and Safety in Construction course with us, if you wish.
Upon successful completion, we will liaise with CITB and order your CSCS card.
Your first green labourer CSCS card will be valid for 2 years before you will be required to renew it.
All other CSCS cards are typically valid for 5 years.

CSCS cards are valid for 5 years before they must be renewed.
Depending on what qualifications you have, you may not be required to complete Level 1 Health & Safety in Construction qualification. Please contact us for more information.
