The ADR Class 7 module provides the specialist knowledge required for the carriage of radioactive materials by road.

Designed for drivers who transport radioactive substances within sectors such as healthcare, nuclear, industrial testing and research, this course builds upon your existing ADR qualification and ensures compliance with current ADR regulations.

Important: Class 7 is an add-on module. Therefore, delegates must already hold, or be completing, the ADR Core and Packages modules alongside this course.

This course is designed for drivers and personnel who transport or are responsible for the carriage of Class 7 radioactive materials by road. It’s suitable for those working within sectors such as:

Whether you are adding Class 7 to an existing ADR qualification or renewing your certification, this module provides the specialist knowledge required to transport radioactive materials safely and in compliance with ADR regulations.

To attend, delegates must already hold or be completing the ADR Core and Packages modules alongside this course. These are mandatory prerequisites for adding Class 7 to your ADR card.

A good level of written and spoken English is required.

The ADR Class 7 Radioactive module is 1 day in duration, including an exam.

Training is delivered in a modern classroom environment through a combination of presentations, practical examples and interactive discussions.

Assessment is carried out through a multiple-choice examination at the end of the course.

Delegates must successfully pass the assessment to have the Class 7 (Radioactive Materials) qualification added to their ADR card.

The ADR Class 7 Radioactive course is delivered at our modern training centre in Blackwood, South Wales.

Our ADR Class 7 training course has been designed to provide drivers with the knowledge needed to transport Class 7 dangerous goods safely, legally and confidently.

This specialist module covers the carriage of radioactive materials used across a range of industries, including healthcare, nuclear, industrial testing, scientific research and radioactive waste management. Whether transporting medical isotopes to hospitals or moving radioactive sources for industrial applications, drivers must understand the unique hazards and controls associated with Class 7.

During the course, delegates will learn about radiation protection principles, package classifications, transport documentation, vehicle marking and labelling, loading and handling requirements, emergency procedures and the legal responsibilities of those involved in the carriage of radioactive materials by road. The training is delivered by experienced ADR instructors who combine the ADR syllabus with practical industry knowledge and real-world examples.

ADR Class 7 Radiation: Our Most Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The Class 7 (Radioactive Materials) module is a specialist top-up and cannot be taken as a standalone course.

You must already hold or be completing the ADR Core and Packages modules alongside this course.

Once successfully completed, the Class 7 module is added to your ADR Driver Training card, which is valid for five years.

To maintain your qualification, you’ll need to complete ADR refresher training before your certificate expires.

Unlike the full ADR Course, unfortunately you cannot gain Driver CPC hours by attending the standalone Class 7 module.

Absolutely. We regularly deliver ADR training for organisations with multiple drivers.
