Introduction To The Course
What Does Our ADR Dangerous Goods Cover?
In line with the European agreement concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by road, drivers who are carrying hazardous substances must hold a valid ADR qualification.
At HOV Training, we offer ADR training for new and current licence holders, broken down into multiple categories over the course of 3-5 days.
Once qualified, ADR licences are valid for 5 years, after which you must complete a “Refresher Course” to reinstate the qualification.
Course Technical Details
ADR Dangerous Goods Licence Details
A good level of written and spoken English.
The full ADR course, including all classes and the tanks module, is 5 days in duration, including exams. The course is classroom-based, although it does have some practical elements, such as basic First Aid.
If you only require specific classes, we can reduce the duration and cost of your course (please contact us to discuss).
All ADR exams are now completely electronically, meaning your card will be returned within just a few days of successful completion.
Throughout the course you will be required to complete some short Multiple Choice style exams.
Upon successful completion your Dangerous Goods ADR Qualification will be issued.
Dangerous Goods ADR qualifications are valid for 5 years before Refresher training is required to reinstate the licence.
It’s worth pointing out that, as an added bonus to carrying out your ADR training, attending an ADR course can count up to 28 hours toward your Driver CPC qualification.

The ADR qualification is broken down into classes concerning different types of hazardous materials:
- Class 1: Explosives*
- Class 2: Gases
- Class 3: Flammable Liquids
- Class 4: Flammable Solids
- Class 5: Oxidising Agents

- Class 7: Radioactive
- Class 8: Corrosive
- Class 9: Miscellaneous
*Please note that we are unable to provide ADR training for specialist Class 1 (Explosive).
